Yes, typically, we recommend that the scar be at least a year old, as scars sometimes do not hold pigment.
Yes, it is perfectly normal and is part of the healing process. Please don’t pick or scratch your tattoo. After it is completely healed, if you notice any light spots, we guarantee your tattoos and can do a touchup session.
Please refer to our aftercare page on our website.
If you feel like your tattoo needs a touchup, please come to our studio in person so the artist can see your tattoo in person. That way, we know how much time to book your appointment. Also, we recommend at least a month after your initial appointment before we book you a touchup session. Please let us know as soon as possible if there is something that needs to be touched up as we will not touch up something that’s over three months old.
Roughly around two weeks, give or take.
No, not until it is completely healed, which could take up to two weeks, if not longer. Also, we advise that you use sunscreen on your tattoo even after healing.

body piercing questions
At this time we do not book for groups bigger than 2 people. We like to keep a calm and relaxed environment for our clients. So we do ask if it’s an appointment for just one person, that you reduce how many people you are bringing to just one! They also need to be 18+. As we can not have minors in our studio without their legal guardian. If it’s an appointment for 2 people, we ask that you do not bring any extra friends or family to your appointment.
If you are pregnant, you unfortunately cannot be pierced. If you are breastfeeding, we recommend waiting a minimum of 3 months postpartum before being pierced.
We recommend waiting a minimum of 12 to 14 weeks before swimming or submerging in any body of water. While some salt water may be good for your piercings, the bacteria in the ocean as well as pools are not.

No. Landlocked Tattoo & Piercing does not perform fresh piercings with jewelry from outside our studio. This helps our studio maintain our strict jewelry material requirements and our safety policies. This also helps maintain our membership in the Association of Professional Piercers and to ensure the safety of our clients.
Even for jewelry shopping, we are by appointment, so we can focus on one person at a time. We are typically unable to stop in the middle of an appointment to assist you. We do have a section in our booking for Jewelry shopping and jewelry changes. We also try to post our jewelry fairly often on our social media.
Please contact us at 816-800-4528 as soon as possible to let us know. If there is an appointment immediately after yours, and you arrive 10 minutes late or more to a piercing appointment, we consider this a No-Show. At that point, there is a no-show or late fee to make up for our time lost. As we are typically unable to book anyone in to that spot with such short notice. You are still more than welcome to reschedule your appointment. We only allow this to happen twice. After that, you will no longer be able to book a piercing appointment with us. We definitely want you to come and get pierced by us, so plan ahead and try to be a few minutes early!
No. Previously worn jewelry, even when disinfected and sterilized, presents additional risks during healing. Once worn, jewelry is covered in an impossible-to-remove biofilm that could lead to infection in a fresh piercing. Previously- worn jewelry is also likely to have nicks and scratches on the wearable surface, which could harbor dangerous bacteria. We want to give you the best possible chance at healing your piercing safely, and in order to do that, we cannot pierce with previously worn jewelry.
Downsizing is the process of replacing the initial backing you were pierced with (which usually has excess length to compensate for swelling) with one that is more fitted to your ear. This prevents movement and aids in the healing process. While not all piercings may require it, it can be beneficial to prevent snagging and discomfort from the longer post. Placements like flat or helix piercings should be downsized in 4-6 weeks to be sure the piercing angle does not shift. Once your piercing has shifted angles, it is very difficult, if not impossible, for it to straighten back out, and usually requires the removal of the piercing. Oral piercings also require downsizing to prevent tooth and gum damage.
You will need to book individual appointments for each person interested in a Service.
Fresh piercings with rings are a tricky subject. It’s possible, but the vast majority of people will have issues with healing. For this reason, the only piercings we prefer to start with rings are daith, septum, and earlobe piercings. Piercings that are done with rings generally have to be much thicker and larger in diameter. What this does is it helps keep pressure off of the piercing. When pierced with rings that are too thin and too small, the curvature of the ring will put pressure on the entrance and exit marks of the piercing. This pressure will form irritation and create bumps. It’s also the reason that you commonly see such large rings in daith piercings. Once your piercing is FULLY healed, you can switch to something thinner and more fitted if you’d prefer
